danae chopelas
wine educator
I'm a fairly recent Walla Walla transplant from the western side of WA. One of my greatest joys in life is learning about, trying, and making, new foods and delicious libations. The history, the chemical bonds, I love it all, and I enjoy them even more deeply when I am able to share them with the folks around me. If you catch me staring off into space, it's likely I'm building a new recipe in mind.
Q&A
DRINK OF CHOICE
A good smooth dark roast cold brew with a little bit of Moroccan spices brewed into it.
MUSIC OF CHOICE
Anything with a fun beat that I can groove to.
HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS A WINE TASTER?
I enjoy finding and identifying the interesting bouquet notes, and then trying to decide what I would pair the wine with.
ON A SCALE OF 1-10 HOW LIKELY ARE YOU TO CLIMB THE HILL NEXT TO THE TASTING ROOM?
On any given day? 1. At some point in my time at Echolands? 10.
IF YOU WERE AN ECHOLANDS WINE, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
Maybe the Grenache? Fun, light and playful with a surprising little bit of complexity thrown in for good measure.
WHAT IS YOUR SKI/SNOWBOARDING PROWESS?
I learned to ski around the age of 3-4 on my parents driveway, but I haven't skiied in at least 15 years… so lodge bunny?
I enjoy hiking, and by hiking I mean meandering through the woods and stopping to admire every little interesting mushroom, flower, vista, or critter that I find.
